Music has always been a significant part of my life—it has been a source of expression, connection, inspiration, and motivation. As a music major who has dedicated much time to practicing and performing, I have witnessed the profound impact music can have. It conveys emotions that words often cannot, and it connects and heals us in a way that speaks to the heart. This is what drives my passion for teaching piano. I am committed to sharing this magic and joy with others, fostering not only technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for music’s ability to enrich our lives.

As a dedicated teacher and musician, I am always seeking ways to improve both my playing and teaching. As an RCM-certified teacher, I actively participate in seminars and take part in local competitions and workshops. I have also been fortunate to participate in a wide variety of musical experiences, from private lessons to collaborative performance settings. My training has grounded me in the technical aspects of piano performance, and various musical genres, while also nurturing a deeper understanding of the emotional and expressive components of music. This well-rounded background has shaped my approach to teaching, which I believe should balance technical proficiency, creativity, and expressivity.

I strive to meet students where they are, tailoring my teaching to their unique learning styles, interests, and musical goals. If something is too challenging, I work with them to break it down into manageable steps, identifying the root cause of the difficulty and helping them progress gradually. I also strive to make lessons engaging by asking thought-provoking questions and using movements, conducting, and different analogies.

While I emphasize the importance of foundational skills—such as proper technique, sight-reading, and ear training—I also encourage students to explore ways to become more musical. I engage them in discussions about the composer, the background, and the history behind each piece, so they gain a broader understanding of music. One of my key goals is for students to develop musical independence, so they can ultimately play and enjoy pieces on their own, with confidence and expression.

I aim to create an inclusive and supportive environment where students feel empowered to explore, experiment, and express themselves musically. I offer students more opportunities to perform and share their music, encouraging them to challenge themselves. I aim to inspire my students to develop the resilience and patience needed to overcome challenges and celebrate small successes along the way. Additionally, I place a strong emphasis on cultivating the joy of music-making, so that my students not only improve their technical skills but also develop a lifelong love and appreciation for music—and ultimately share this gift with those around them.
